About Us
In early 2000, an inspired Montessori educator realized the lack of education alternatives offered in Southeast Fayette County, and visualized La Grange Montessori School (LMS). Bettie Northcross, along with the members of the La Grange Presbyterian Church, came together to make the dream of a Montessori school in our area a reality. As a result of their dedication to high educational standards, LMS was founded in 2002. |

LMS provides a program for children aged 18 months to 12 years of age. In 2006, a feasibility committee was formed to investigate the addition of a middle school to our curriculum. In February 2007, The Board of Trustees announced the approval by the Session of a Middle School Program. This program will begin in the Fall of 2008. Since our inception, LMS has provided an educational program with a difference. We are committed to creating a learning environment that emphasizes respect for the child, freedom of self-expression, self-education, love of learning, and personal and social responsibility. |

LMS is located at 21450 Hwy 57, La Grange, Tennessee. The Hope and Faith buildings are surrounded by five acres of open fields and woodlands. The classroom design follows the Montessori principles of order, simplicity, and beauty. The natural outdoor environment is incorporated into the school building itself. Each of the classrooms has its own door to outside work areas and large windows bringing in the bright outdoors. The playground is tucked safely behind fences. |
